At The Calculators Pty Ltd, we are committed to protecting your privacy as a customer and an online visitor to our website. We use the information we collect about you to provide you with the financial and credit products, advice and service relevant to your needs. Information we collect from you

In the course of your visits to our website or use of our services, we may obtain the following information (but is not limited to) about you: name, company name, email address, telephone number, credit card details, billing address, tax file number, citizenship status, date of birth, geographic location, IP address, survey responses, support queries, blog comments and social media handles (together ‘Personal Data’). We may also collect the personal information of your family members where it is relevant to the advice being provided.

In most instances, we collect personal information directly from that person when they:

  • complete credit product application form or a financial product,
  • complete an identification form,
  • complete data collection form / documentation,
  • provide documentation to us, or
  • interact with an online interactive tool,
  • when you communicate with us in person, over the telephone, email, internet or by using other electronic devices

Situations where we collect personal information from other people and organisations include (but are not limited to):

  • a mortgage broker or other credit representative,
  • other professionals who act on your behalf, such as a lawyer or accountant,
  • other organisations, who jointly with us, provide products or services to you, and
  • social media and publicly available sites.

It’s your preference whether or not you want to share your personal information. You have the right to not to provide personal information, including about your identity. However, in this case, your adviser will warn you about the possible consequences and how this may impact on the quality of the advice provided. Your adviser may also decline to provide advice if they feel they have insufficient information to proceed. In some instances, we will decline to provide services or advice if we feel we have insufficient information for the specific scope of the service or advice requested. Further, in some circumstances the law requires us to collect and verify both photographic and non - photographic identification documents. You can review, correct, update or delete your Personal Data by contacting us directly to do so.

How we use your information

Personally Identifiable Information: We use the information we collect to deliver our services to you, including: communicating with you, providing technical support, notifying you of updates and offers, sharing useful content, measuring customer satisfaction, diagnosing problems and providing you with a personalised website experience.

Marketing communications are only sent to you if you have requested or subscribed to them. You can opt out of our marketing communications at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us and your request will be actioned immediately.

Non-Personally Identifiable Information: We also use the information we collect in aggregated and anonymized forms to improve our services, including: administering our website, producing reports and analytics, advertising our products and services, identifying user demands and assisting in meeting customer needs generally.

We will use all reasonable means to protect the confidentiality of your Personal Data while in our possession or control. Credit card information is encrypted before transmission and is not stored by us on our servers.

To enable us to deliver our services, we may transfer information that we collect about you, including Personal Data, across borders for storage and processing in countries other than Australia. If your Personal Data is transferred and processed outside Australia, it will only be transferred to countries that have adequate privacy protections.

We retain your personal information for as long as needed to provide services to you and as otherwise necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

In the event there is a breach of our security and your Personal Data is compromised, we will promptly notify you in compliance with the applicable law.

  • anyone to whom we, or our service providers, are required or authorised by law to disclose your personal information to (for example, law enforcement agencies, Australian and international government and regulatory authorities).

We may also disclose your information to a third party where you have given your consent or where you would reasonably expect us to disclose your information to that third party. We may also disclose the personal information we hold about our financial advisers to professional organisations, companies and consultants that we work with. The only circumstances in which we would collect, use or disclose your government related identifiers is where we are required or authorised by law to do so. For example, we may be required to disclose your Tax File Number (TFN) to the Australian Taxation Office, a superannuation or retirement income product provider. Likewise, we may need to disclose your Medicare number to Centrelink in order to assess your social security eligibility. Drivers licence numbers and passport numbers may also be collected when we are required to verify your identity. Personal information collected may also be used for direct marketing purposes to promote events, products or services that may be of relevance to you. Please contact us should you wish not to receive direct marketing.

Your Personal Data details are only disclosed to third party suppliers when it is required by law, for goods or services which you have purchased, for payment processing or to protect our copyright, trademarks and other legal rights. To the extent that we do share your Personal Data with a service provider, we would only do so if that party has agreed to comply with our privacy standards as described in this privacy policy and in accordance with applicable law. Our contracts with third parties prohibit them from using any of your Personal Data for any purpose other than that for which it was shared.

Disclosure of personal information overseas: We may disclose your personal information to service providers who operate outside Australia. The most common example of when we share your personal information overseas is when we work with overseas service providers who prepare financial advice documents. When we send your personal information to overseas recipients, we make sure appropriate data handling and security arrangements are in place. Your adviser may enter into their own outsourcing arrangements to countries other than those detailed above. If so, your adviser will disclose these arrangements separately to you. All reasonable steps will be taken to ensure that offshore service providers comply with the Privacy Act. Personal information is generally hosted on servers located in Australia. If you access our services from outside Australia, you consent to the transfer of your personal information to Australia, a jurisdiction that may not provide the same high level of protection we apply in Australia. We do not and will not sell or deal in Personal Data or any customer information.
